Medicare Shared Savings Program and ACO Reporting

ACO data submission rewards professionals (physicians and practitioners) with positive payment adjustments similar to the Quality Payment Program. Though provider participation in an Accountable Care Organization (ACO) is voluntary, it is an initiative to lead the way for quality healthcare. Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) is the federal program that rewards ACOs who manage to decrease the cost of treatment while maintaining the quality of care standards.

What is ACO Data Submission?

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) under the Department of Health & Human Services have finalized regulations according to the Affordable Care Act (ACA) for hospitals, physicians, and other healthcare providers to improve the health of Medicare patients through ACOs. The selected measures that they submit as an ACO financially reward them.

Why an ACO?

Accountable Care Organization (ACO) is a group of providers who collaborate for improved patient outcomes. They work together to improve a patient’s health across care settings such as clinics, hospitals, and long-term care facilities.

CMS tracks the program through Federal assistance; it works closely with federal departments to ensure a well-coordinated and aligned effort both inside and outside the agency. Avant-Garde BPO follows the ACO participant list agreement in letter and spirit.

The best way for ACO data submission to occur is via a Qualified Registry like ours. It binds the present with the future because the year 2023 is set to use registries for this purpose.

Together we work with practitioners to report ACO data to CMS for them to receive well-deserved rewards.

If you are looking to participate in an ACO, be ready to report efficiently. Score big and take home incentives for the measures performed.

Benefits of Using Avant-Garde BPO

Registry Submission Set for Incentives

A registry is one of the methods of ACO data submission in 2021. It becomes the only method in 2022. Hence, if you choose to report through the Avant-Garde BPO registry, you only accept the inevitable while ensuring a smooth transition onto the registry method.

Accurately Report Quality Measures

Since the reporting requirements hold accuracy as key to ACO submissions, clinicians must submit error-free data at all times. The skills and knowledge we possess at Avant-Garde BPO leave no space for errors at the end of the day. Thus, report with confidence!

Handle Data Migration like a Pro

We understand that your organization may have switched to a new EHR, in which case, our dedicated team HIT analysts know how to aggregate data from multiple platforms before submitting it to CMS. Deal with all data collection challenges.

Years of Experience with Regulatory Compliances

We carry the experience to execute ACO data reporting with integrity. It is an honor for us to work on behalf of clinicians for the past few years now for several compliance programs, including the Quality Payment Program (QPP MIPS). Thus, ACO quality reporting comes naturally to us.

The Conundrum of ACO Quality Measures Solved

CMS will use the CMS Web Interface data submission outlet for ACOs in 2021. However, if you want to report using the registry method, you can, as individuals, groups, and MIPS APM entities. Through the years 2022 and 2023, registry submission will be the method of submission for ACOs.
In 2021, you could either report ten measures through the CMS Web Interface or three eCQM/CQM MIPS measures (six in total) via a CMS Qualified Registry. Besides the registry method, there is the EHR method for submissions. ACOs must use the CAHPS for MIPS Survey, and CMS will do the math of two measures using claims data.
